Show stopping and Showcasing

Today the showroom got a fresh look, a little bit of shuffling and re jigging. Sometimes when you look at something all the time it becomes a bit stale, a bit forgotten. Its amazing what can happen when you have a good play with all your favourite things, sometimes a piece develops a whole new dimension, or meaning or really shines brighter than it has before.
Thats what makes our cabinetry in the shop so brilliant. It show cases our show stoppers perfectly. It allows us to create vignettes of all proportions, scale or size. As well as making very efficient use of the height of the ceiling and walls.
Custom joinery and cabinets in a home are such a fantastic storage solution, Taking up wall space that may have stared blankly and allowing favourite things, books and objects to do there thing. And often a good place to put those special pieces you love at a height that those small hands just simply cant reach.
Life is too short to hide beautiful things, fill your shelves with memories, stories and the beauty that books and objects have to offer.
Heres some inspiration.
Our Swan St showroom today, after Catherine worked her magic.

Textural and tonal perfection via elle decor.

The glass doors, create a more organised and sophisticated solution, room by darryl Carter via Mark D Sikes.

So much personality here. Via Elle Decor

Im a huge fan of wall papering the back of the shelves to create contrast and the illusion of depth. Via House Beautiful.

A very clever solution that makes the most of floor space and wall space. An intimate and elegant room. Via Elle Decor.

While books are the obvious shelf occupier, there are only so many flat surfaces on a floor space to use. Objects and curiosity filled shelves are a tactile and interesting show stopper. Via Elle Decor.

Vintage appeal

Our vintage style timber flooring is a unique product. Engineered boards, with carefully selected european oak, perfectly finished with natural oil to a number of coveted colours and styles. While primarily it is a flooring product, it is also a clever solution for wall cladding. With so many colour variations, there is so much scope to work with any manner of interior styles.
Our Swan st showroom has a number of walls lined in our timber, here is the rock oak colour way standard board. Looking quite the part with our William wingback chair. We also showcase the herringbone style and wide board style on our showroom floor.

I love this example of herringbone floor against the pale joinery.

Our showroom floor, carbonised herringbone boards, with our tan chesterfield sofa.

This is the french white board applied to a wall in our showroom with a new sconce were obsessed with.

This pale floor, similar to our french white, with the duck egg blue is divine. Our boards are suitable for all areas and a re a great solution for the kitchen. Image via cuteandcompany.com.

The elephant skin board from our range, installed at a clients home. Earthy, tactile and warming.

Our timber goes hand in hand with sisal. They were made for one another.

Red, In perfect places.

Red is a colour that has the potential to go awfully wrong. It must be applied with caution, restraint and perhaps left in the hands of the sublimely talented, like Mary McDonald for example. These two rooms below are a couple that have remained a constant go to for inspiration. Both for very different reasons, but both by Mary McDonald and both a fine example how red has the ability to look both glamorous and regal or relaxed and cosy. Heres a link to a great little article with some decorating advice from Mary McDonald herself, care of our favourite magazine Verandah.
