At Portobello Home, our one decorative staple, next to our porcelain is coral. In all its forms, blue, white, small and frail or substantial and solid. Coral brings an organic element to a room. It adds texture, life and organic form. A great way to achieve balance in our rooms when most items are often man made and produced

. Coral is a subtle statement piece that will ignite a conversation, never date or ever be a difficult piece to showcase. It nestle perfectly in a bathroom, fills voids in book shelves and brings life to a coffee table when fresh flowers aren't available.

The classics. Portobello home, we love the classics! Leather? Classic! Chesterfields?Classic.Tan leather chesterfield? Ultimate classic statement piece. The most common initial first spoken upon entering our showroom are 'Wow THAT sofa is amazing' people cant get enough, neither can we. Tan as a colour is warm, neither overly feminine or masculine, ties back to a multitude of finishes, soft or hard, bright or tonal and when I think of tan leather, I think of luxe handbags, perfectly crafted equestrian wear, safari, autumn leaves, comfort, warmth, caramel and pure classic perfection.

Oliver Messel. House and Home

This morning the air had absolutely turned on its fresh autumnal charm, if the air was a colour this morning it was celadon, crisp, smooth, not icy or blue. Just that subtle, minty, perfect coastal air.

This room in Oliver Messel's gorgeous Barbados home is exactly that, fresh, subtle and i bet you would feel instantly cool, walking on that celadon green floor, that grounds this casually elegant living space.

Our collection of celadon ceramics certainly give an entirely different feeling to the blue and white, its hard to pick which one we favour. But I think a chic white room would be complimented greatly by a celadon ginger jar, or some white joinery shelves with a pair of foo dog book ends.

The obsession continues

Blue and white, an endless obsession. However Indigo blue, a current cult favourite in editorials and blogged about homes, is a staple at Portobello Home, even if it is a fleeting craze, we love it sick and have received some new pieces which will appear on our instagram shortly.

An Indian, cotton, summer..

After a long, busy but inspiring summer, I believe its time our blog returned. Perhaps a bit like an Indian summer, but absolutely more frequent.

Summer nights, a love of classic blue and whites and a need for a classic yet casual bedspread, lead to our new collection of indian cotton. 

The collection of bedspreads, are very versatile, the perfect size to cloth your dining table, to cover a sofa or simply as a bed spread to cover a king or queen size bed. Floral motifs, Indigo prints and some classic paisley in gentle or bold blues and crisp whites make for an interesting and and relaxed feel.
